Lighthouse Christian Ministries (LCM) was formed in 1997 as a 501(c)(3) non-profit agency. LCM primarily serves Galveston County residents. Initially, the ministry supported clients experiencing financial crisis with rent and utility assistance and operated a food pantry. The ministry resale shop has always been instrumental in supporting the operational expenses of the ministry.
In 2008, Hurricane Ike caused structural and roof damage to the existing facility and the ministry made a decision to rebuild its facilities. The redesign included a 2nd Story which has allowed LCM room to expand its services to the community. Today LCM has five areas of service: food and financial assistance ministries, health and dental services, educational programs, resale shop, and seasonal outreach programs.
Additionally, LCM has been able to form strategic ministry partners that bring their services on-site to LCM's clients on a regular basis. These partners include a crisis pregnancy and parenting support center, vision screening conducted through the Lion's club, and legal counsel offered through Lone Star Legal Aid.
